The L519 Honeycomb Bristlenose Pleco is a rare and eye-catching variety of bristlenose catfish prized for its intricate honeycomb pattern and hardy nature. Native to the freshwater systems of South America, this pleco stands out with its maze-like network of golden lines over a dark brown to charcoal base, creating a striking “honeycomb” appearance across its body and fins.
Growing to approximately 4–5 inches (10–13 cm) in length, the L519 remains a manageable size, making it ideal for community aquariums 20 gallons and larger. Like other bristlenose plecos, males develop distinctive facial bristles as they mature, adding to their unique character.
Peaceful and primarily nocturnal, the L519 Honeycomb Bristlenose is an excellent algae grazer and a valuable addition to planted or driftwood-heavy setups. It thrives in well-oxygenated water with moderate flow and appreciates plenty of hiding spots such as caves and wood. Driftwood is especially important, as it aids digestion and mimics its natural habitat.
